We already know that idioms are words or phrases that have a different meaning than the literal meaning of the word or words. Some idioms are commonly used and others are not. So, my advice to you when you are learning idioms, is not to use a huge long list of hundreds and hundreds of idioms. That is why, I am going to share with you a few idioms that can be used all the time, almost every day. And all of this idioms are related to food.
(to) put all your eggs in one basket this idiom is used to describe when you risk everything at once and it usually relates to money, opportunity or hopes for the future.
- While my brother trained to be a professional footballer, he also studied a degree in engineering. Because my dad told him not to put all of his eggs in one basket.
- My aunt invested all of his savings into a company that went bankrupt. I don't know why she put all of her eggs in one basket.
(to) butter someone up means to be really nice or friendly to someone, so that you can get something from him/her/them.
- I know that Darwin has a spare ticket to the concert. Perhaps, if we butter him up, he might offer it to us.
- She will have to butter her boss up if she wants to take extra leave at Chrismas.
Bigger fish to fry means to have something more important or more interesting to do.
- I'm not going to the party today. I have bigger fish to fry. I got a free FCE class.
- We can't stay here much longer. We have bigger fish to fry.
Smart cookie means to be intelligent; a clever person who makes good decisions.
- According to his colleagues, Thomas is a real smart cookie.
- Cloe is a pretty smart cookie, I trust her.
Couch potato means a lazy and inactive person; especially : one who spends a great deal of time watching television and normally eating.
- He's turned into a real couch potato since he subscribed to the sports channel.
- Homer, "You are such a couch potato!"

I found really interesting this information Brii most because this kind of idioms are something really difficult to find and understand so I appreciate this information because I don't think that exists idioms with foos so I'm totally a couchpotato, and this expressions would help me a lot.
